What Does Acupuncture Mean?

Acupuncture is the practice of inserting needles at key spots on the body to improve a person’s health or treat an ailment. While originally a Chinese practice, this form of health treatment has spread to the West.

Insuranceopedia Explains Acupuncture

Traditional Chinese medical practitioners believe that certain parts of the body are where energy – the source of good health – naturally flows. An interruption of this flow is believed to have a negative impact on a person’s wellbeing. Acupuncture treatment involves the strategic insertion of needles to remedy this interrupted flow.

While it is typically classified as a form of alternative medicine, acupuncture is now commonly regarded as a legitimate treatment, even by the World Health Organization (WHO), to address conditions like gastritis, sinusitis, and others.
