Adjustment Bureau

Updated: 11 March 2024

What Does Adjustment Bureau Mean?

An adjustment bureau is a company that adjusts and handles claims on behalf of insurance companies. Many insurance companies use their services to avoid having to add this component to their own businesses. In other words, rather than adjusting claims themselves, they simply outsource this process to the adjustment bureau.

Insuranceopedia Explains Adjustment Bureau

Insurance companies must pay to use the services of an adjustment bureau. Once they become a client, the adjustment bureau will do things for them like determine exactly how much coverage each claim will get and help policyholders through the process of filing their claims. While many insurance companies have their own claims departments that do this type of work, others simply find it easier to let an adjustment bureau handle it.
