What Does Egress Mean?
“Egress” refers to the ability to get out of or to leave a place. Egress coverage (also referred to as ingress) is included in many business interruption insurance policies. This coverage protects against loss of profit from business interruptions that results employees being unable to get to or get out of the company premises.
Insuranceopedia Explains Egress
There a number of circumstances that can prevent employees of a company from accessing or leaving the company’s property. For example, if a large hurricane strikes, it can down trees, cause floods, and create major pileups of debris that can prevent the safe and proper ingress (entrance) and egress (exit) from company property.
