What Does Dependent Coverage Mean?
Dependent coverage refers to health insurance protection extended to the dependents of the policyholder, including the spouse, children below 26 years old, and other dependents allowed by law.
Insuranceopedia Explains Dependent Coverage
Apart from the nuclear family, dependent coverage is extended to the policyholder’s stepson, stepdaughter, legally adopted child, a child lawfully placed in the care of the policyholder for legal adoption, and an eligible foster child. An insurance policy with dependent coverage allows any of the dependents to avail benefits up to as much as the benefits granted to the policyholder.
