What Does Miscellaneous Expenses Mean?
Miscellaneous expenses are additional charges that are outside the scope of primary charges. Many health insurance policies have limits for miscellaneous expenses. These limits commonly come into play during a hospital visits.

A health insurance policy may, for example, provide full coverage for room and board, but have only limited coverage for miscellaneous charges.
Miscellaneous expenses could include x-rays, drug tests, and other additional treatments beyond the primary provision of care. If a policyholder reaches the limit for miscellaneous expenses, they will have to shoulder the remaining costs themselves.
