Snowmobile Floater

What Does Snowmobile Floater Mean?

A snowmobile floater is an addendum to a homeowners or car insurance policy that will cover the financial loss of a stolen or damaged snowmobile. The snowmobile itself can also be insured separately.

Insuranceopedia Explains Snowmobile Floater

A snowmobile owner might buy an insurance policy exclusively for it. That policy can cover, among other things, bodily damage to the driver or to a third party.

However, if the snowmobile owner already has a homeowners or auto insurance policy, they can just add a floater to an existing policy. The floater covers the snowmobile if it is lost, damaged, or stolen. One advantage to the floater is that the insurer does not specify the location of the loss. So, the loss will be covered even if it occurs while the snowmobile is parked in a home garage or stationed in a snow park.
