What Does Surgical Insurance Benefits Mean?

Surgical insurance benefits are benefits received from a surgical or hospital insurance plan that covers hospitalization expenses, such as surgery expenses, room and board, diagnostic X-rays, physician’s non-surgical fees, and laboratory tests. The benefits also include costs of admission as well as room and board in an extended health care facility.

Insuranceopedia Explains Surgical Insurance Benefits

It is not unusual that medical or health care plans are inadequate to cover all the expenses incurred during periods of prolonged hospitalization as in a surgical operation. Supplementing lack of coverage, additional surgical insurance benefits are available as part of a surgical or hospital insurance plan that may be purchased as additional protection for specific medical conditions that would require surgical operation and a prolonged hospital stay.
